Committee Descriptions
On this page you will find descriptions of all our committees. We have a committee to fit your interest and schedule! If you are interested in volunteering for any of these committees, please contact the PTO Board and we will put you in touch with the chair person(s).
Your time and knowledge is needed and wanted by BG staff and students. Whether it's a little time or a lot of time, WE NEED YOU! We could not do it without each of you!
After School Enrichment (ASE)
ASE is a month long program that consists of a variety of classes offered after school during the month of February which will allow your Bobcat to explore new hobbies and learn new skills. ASE offers 6-7 classes to choose from each day and cover topics such as art, sports, crafts, animals, technology, dance, etc. Classes are taught by parents, teachers and outside vendors. There is a cost for these classes and each day they begin directly after school. Sign-ups are in January and some classes fill up quickly!

The chair is responsible for planning and organizing this event including scheduling classes.

Volunteers are needed for check-in and check-out each day of ASE, booking and organizing classes and leading classes.
Art Club
Run by Young Rembrandts, Art Club is a weekly class held after school where students can learn how to draw complex objects by breaking them into foundational shapes. Children will learn how to deconstruct an image and then reconstruct it. Through repetition children will develop spatial awareness, improve fine motor skills, enhance their visualization skills and boost their self discipline. This class will cover a wide variety of subject matter, artistic concepts, art history and mastery of materials. This class will be available to all grade levels.

The chair is responsible for coordinating classes with the vendor, the school and volunteers as well as advertising these classes.

Volunteers are needed weekly during sessions.
Art Fair & Ice Cream Social
Held in the evening in April, the halls of BG are decorated with masterpieces created by all students throughout the year. Families can tour the hallways to view the artwork and then celebrate with pizza and an ice cream social in the cafeteria. There are also opportunities to create art with your child! This event is free to attend.

The chair is responsible for organizing the evening by coordinating with the art teacher, pizza and ice cream vendors and volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help setup the event, run art projects and sell pizza.
Assemblies
The PTO sponsors several assemblies for the kids at BG throughout the year.

The chair is responsible for coordinating with the principal and working with the budget to find and book various assemblies throughout the school year.

Bingo
Bingo night is held at BG with donated prizes awarded throughout the night. This event is typically held near the end of January. Bingo prizes include donated items in addition to gift cards and coupons from local businesses. Raffle prizes are also available. This event is free to attend.

The chair is responsible for maintaining the bingo cards, chips, and other supplies kept in the PTO closet in addition to coordinating prize donations for the evening.
Volunteers are needed to help procure prize donations and work the bingo cardnand prize tables.
Book Club
Book Club is for 4th to 5th graders to meet and discuss various books throughout the school year. The Book Club meets every two weeks to discuss specific chapters. It typically takes 4-6 weeks to complete one book.

The chair is responsible for selecting books for the Book Club to read as well as facilitating book discussion meetings with the Club.

Book Fair
The Book Fair is typically held in the fall just in time for holiday gift giving. The Book Fair brings children and young reader books to BG for the children to shop and purchase books. There is also a parent night for parents to shop.
The chair facilitates the logistics associated with the Book Fair including scheduling and delivery of the Book Fair books.

Volunteers are needed to setup and take down the Book Fair as well as during the Book Fair to assist students.
Chess Club
Run by Elite Chess, Chess Club is a weekly class where students can learn how to play chess or advance their chess skills. This class is available to 1st-5th grade levels.
The chair is responsible for overseeing small groups participating in classes run by either an outside vendor or a parent.

Decorations
The PTO keeps the lobby and front of BG festive with decorations being changed throughout the seasons.
The chair is responsible for decorating the BG lobby cases, boards and foyers as well as the planters in front of the school.

Directory Spot
Directory Spot is a platform with a directory of the contact information of each class, its students and teachers.
The chair is responsible for running the platform and uploading all the data. The chair is also responsible for providing access to the Directory to families that have paid their PTO dues.

Fall Fest
Fall Fest is the PTO’s largest event! The festival is held at Windy Acres Farm in Geneva during October. Students and parents may come in costume while getting to play games and win prizes! The cake walk, train, and zip-line are among some favorite activities. Food and alcohol options are also available for purchase.

The chair is responsible for planning and executing the event as well as planning games and crafts. The chair is also responsible for coordinating all the volunteers.
​
Many volunteers are needed to run games and organize prizes for the games. Volunteers are needed to oversee farm attractions. Many items for the cake walk are needed to be donated as well.
Greater Education Foundation Basket
The St Charles Education Foundation supports District 303 in reaching its goal of excellence in education. Since 1992, the Foundation has donated over $1,273,000 to benefit the students of District 303.

The chair is responsible for putting together an amazing themed raffle basket that is donated to the St Charles Education Foundation.

Head Room Parent
The Head Room Parent role is to act as a liaison between room parents and the principal.
The chair is responsible for organizing the volunteers obtained through classroom sign-ups and selecting one for each class as well as communicating information obtained from the principal to the room parents.
Volunteers are needed to be the head room parent of each classroom. They will plan and execute class parties as well as organize class gifts for the teacher.
Holiday Market
The Holiday Market is where the children come to shop for their family for the holidays and is held the first full week of December in the gym at BG during school hours.
The chairs are responsible for shopping for all the items sold at the Holiday Market. The chairs are also responsible for maintaining an inventory of the items.
Volunteers are needed to help set up for the event the weekend before and pack up the weekend after. Volunteers are also needed to help the children shop and wrap their gifts.
New Family Welcome
Families that are new to Kindergarten, the area or BG will be invited to attend a casual informational session during the first few weeks of school. Members of the PTO Board, the Principal and staff will be there to share information and answer questions.

The chair provides new families with information regarding the PTO as well as events held throughout the school year.

Parent Trivia Night
Held in February, Parent Trivia Night is the most fun event of the school year for parents only! It is held at the Moose Lodge on a Saturday night. Te ams of 4-10 may enter the trivia competition.
The chair is responsible for planning and organizing the event which includes a costume contest, silent auction, raffle baskets and of course, a trivia competition.
Volunteers are needed to solicit local and regional businesses for donations for the silent auction and raffle baskets, help run the auctions and trivia competition, help set-up/breakdown the event, help decorate and help find vendors for food.
Readathon
A readathon is a school fundraiser fueled reading. Instead of family members purchasing items like wrapping paper, they send money for minutes of reading completed.
The chair is responsible for working with the teachers to encourage the kids to read as well as promote the fundraiser.

Restaurant Fundraisers
Every month, the PTO holds a no cook night fundraiser at one of our community's restaurants with a percentage of proceeds from sales going to the PTO.
The chair is responsible for organizing community fundraiser events at participating restaurants.

School Supply Packs
School supply packs are a convenient way to order your child's school supplies, just find your teacher and click order, while supporting the PTO! A percentage of each purchase goes to the PTO.
The chair works with the vendor to setup the online ordering and any other tasks associated with delivery.

Shout Outs
Throughout the entire school year, parents can purchase a Shout Out to their Bobcat for $10 that will be displayed on a screen in the main hallway. Th e message can be for a birthday or job well done!

The chair acts as liaison between parents and the LRC that is responsible for displaying the message.

Spirit Wear
In the fall, the PTO sells BG merchandise for your Bobcat (and yourself) to show their school spirit!
The chair is responsible for coordinating sales and delivery with the spirit wear vendor.

Staff Appreciation
Once a month, the PTO organizes breakfasts, lunches and snacks for the amazing BG staff to show our appreciation for all they do!
The chair organizes teacher appreciation events throughout the school year and coordinates refreshments and goodies from parents or catered by restaurants.
Volunteers are needed to help provide various food items for appreciation breakfasts, lunches and snacks.
STEM Club
The PTO is looking to get this Club back up and running! We are looking for ideas!
The chair is responsible for overseeing small groups participating in classes run by either an outside vendor or a parent.

Talent Show
The PTO sponsored Bell Grammies Talent Show is held each year at the St Charles North High School Auditorium at the end of the school year. Students of all ages participate by singing, dancing, telling jokes, performing magic, etc. There are even teacher acts! Even if your student is not participating in the Talent Show, it so much fun to be an audience member! This event is free to attend.

The chair is responsible for coordinating, overseeing and planning the Bell Grammies Talent Show.

Volunteers are needed for the night of the performance as well as rehearsals.
Used Book Sale
In the Spring, the PTO organizes a Used Book Sale with used books collected throughout the year. The event takes place in the gym at BG typically at the same as the Art Fair & Ice Cream Social.

The chair is responsible for organizing donations of used children's and young reader book categories as well as setup and organization of the event.
​
Volunteers are needed to sort books and to help during the event.
Welcome Back Picnic
The Welcome Back Picnic is held in the evening a few weeks after school starts. Families can purchase dinner from food trucks (with a percentage of the proceeds going to the PTO). There's also a DJ and various free, fun activities for the kids to do. This event is free to attend.
The chair is responsible for organizing and planning the Welcome Back Picnic as well coordinating with food truck vendors and volunteers.

Yearbook
BG creates a yearbook of all the important Bobcat events of the school year each year.
The chair is responsible for taking photographs throughout the school year. The chair also works with the vendor to create the annual yearbook.
